Egyptian government has ordered the extermination of all pigs within the country.  Egypt has 0 (ZERO) reported cases of this new engineered flu (this strand contains DNA from avian, human, and 3 types of swine flu viruses). Also per the CDC and WHO there is 0 (ZERO) evidence that pigs are able to carry, or transmit this strand of virus. Since Moslem people are forbidden to eat pork – it is strictly the Christian population that is suffering from this pig “cull”. These people are living off of trash dumps and these pigs aside from their shanty shacks are some of their only real possessions. This is a total attack on our Christian family in Egypt – they need our prayers.

Egypt, already hit hard by bird flu, ordered the slaughter of all Egypt’s roughly 300,000 to 400,000 pigs on April 29 as a precaution against the H1N1 swine flu virus, a move the United Nations said was “a real mistake.”

Egypt, which has not reported any H1N1 cases, fears another flu virus could spread quickly in a country where most of the roughly 80 million population live in the densely packed Nile Valley, many in crowded slums around Cairo.

Pigs are mainly raised by the Christian minority, and government officials have complained that some farmers are trying to hide their pigs, making it harder for officials to carry out the cull.

The swine flu virus originated in pigs*, and has genes from human, bird and pig viruses. Scientists don’t know exactly how it jumped to humans. In the current outbreak, WHO says the virus is being spread from human to human, not from contact with infected pigs.

Egypt began slaughtering its roughly 300,000 pigs Wednesday even though experts said swine flu is not linked to pigs and not spread by eating pork. Angry farmers protested the government decree.

In Paris, the World Organization for Animal Health said Thursday “there is no evidence of infection in pigs, nor of humans acquiring infection directly from pigs.”

Killing pigs “will not help to guard against public or animal health risks” presented by the virus and “is inappropriate,” the group said in a statement.

*This article has some odd double speak. They say that this flu virus is from pigs, but then say you cannot get it from them. It sounds like a twist of words that is saying that yes this flu has swine flu in it which originally came from pigs, but with the vagueness of their comment they try to make it sound like this particular stand was contracted from hogs. They then come in and correctly spell it out that you cannot get this virus from being in contact or eating swine/pork.
